Willeke van Ravenhorst | Tanz 2.1, Tanz 2.3

W.N. van Ravenhorst is a Dutch artist, living and working in Düsseldorf. Untill recently, she always made huge, room filling, temporary installations, using unconventional and industrial materials, preferably in big, unusual spaces. The making process of these works was always filmed, ending up in an entire archive of time lapse videos on which one can see the installations slowly come into existence. In a recent new direction in her work, van Ravenhorst has started translating these videos, or rather, the way she moves through the space while creating an installation, in various different media such as printing techniques and small scale sculptures. You can see these new works as cartographies, that always try to capture a multitude of movement, time and space into one, direct image.

Plattenspieler, Verstärker, Erde, Kopfhörer, 2018

Die Installation beschreibt Prinzipien des Zufalls als Frage eines Glaubenssatzes. Ein gebrauchter Plattenspieler, welcher durch darauf liegender Erde am Spielen der Musik gehindert wird, verändert stetig die Abspielposition der Nadel. Zu hören ist, ohne Kopfhörer, ein Kratzen und Ziehen. Abgespielt wird die Chorale Version der Lukas-Passion von Schütz. Mit dem Kopfhörer sind Fragmente und Stimmen des Albums wahrzunehmen, die je Position der Nadel, wiederholt werden.

Das Geheimnisvolle und Beglückende dabei: gerade weil Neumann den Zufall zulässt, bilden sich wie von selbst gegenständliche Formen, gerade darum sehen wir, was eigentlich gar nicht gemalt ist. Nicht selten, und das macht die Auseinandersetzung mit ihrer Malerei zu einer intellektuell stimulierenden Herausforderung, fließen mit den Farben auch die Formen ineinander und werden zwei- oder vieldeutig. Wie auf einem Vexierbild schlagen Figur und Grund ineinander um. Vermeintlich feste Körper lösen sich auf, verwandeln sich.

Rosita Hofmann | Exploratomie

Der Körper, den man bewohnt, der man ist und der einem doch immer ein Stück weit fremd bleibt. Exploratomie ist die Erforschung des Körpers durch bildgebende Verfahren. Selfies von Selfies. Überlagerung vertrauter Formen zu abstrakten Verformung. Eine Reflexion über Zeit und Technologie.

Marta Masternak | LIQUID THOUGHTS

This piece shows an abstract, melting landscape; where the fictional/ virtual space is mixed with a real surrounding. The installation is presenting an inflow of data in the cyber world and an impossibility to experience it physically. The work is fragmentary, de-structured, in effect it stimulates against the new daily perception of the smooth, ́́perfect́́ image found on the internet, as well as showing the instability and chaotic area of the digital datas itself.
